Globe Tattoo Review!!
Globe and Smart recently had a price cut for their USB HSDPA modem ( Globe Tattoo and Smart Bro). Smart Bro now only cost 995 pesos and Globe Tattoo now only cost 895 pesos. If you need an internet connection and you are always traveling this is one offer to consider. Because of the price cut I considered buying one of the two. I ask myself which is better? so I started researching on both. I found out that both Smart and Globe offer 3g in my area, that's a good thing. I prefer globe just because I use it for my cellphone but it seems that my phone gets very low reception for 3g compared to my mom (she uses smart). So now I'm leaning in favor for smart and I was determined to get Smart Bro, but then I came across an article claiming that both Smart Bro and Globe Tattoo could be openlined. Last night I bought the Globe Tattoo keeping in mind that if it doesn't perform well I could openline it and use a Smart simcard instead. I set it all up, it was as easy as clicking next and next lol. I bought a usb extension just to extend the range of my GT. I first test it for simple browsing like searching, checking mails and etc.. the speed was sufficient and i had no problem with the it, the loading was fast and reliable. I also wanted to test its downloading capabilities, I tried watching videos on youtube and it was unexpectedly fast, the video played without stopping or buffering. Next I tried downloading a video and the speed was sufficient, the download speed was ranging from 50Kbps and even reached 100Kbps which was surprisingly fast. Overall I am satisfied with the Globe Tattoo and i would recommend it to you guys.
PS: Before you buy Globe Tattoo or Smart Bro check if your area is 3g ready for you to utilize its full potential.
BTW IT COMES WITH FREE 100 load (5 hrs internet)
Here is a screen shot of Globe Tattoo in action:
Notice that I'm buffing a video while downloading. Take note of the speed.

pre-paid...
Is there a post paid option just like the regular DSLs?
I hate running out of load, so I simply prefer unlimited post paid connections.
oh btw, can you send sms with this device too?

There is a post paid option.
Plan 499, Free 45 hrs/ month
Plan 999, Free 100 hrs/ month
Plan 1,499 Free 160 hrs/ month
If you consumed all your free hours you'll be charged 0.33 pesos per min.
If your in plan 1499 you can save about 90 hrs because if you compute it 1499/20 = 74.95 hrs.
999/20= 49.95 and 499/20 24.95.
In prepaid it charges 5 pesos/ 15 mins.
Yes, you can send sms using this device. It also has inbox and etc.. typical stuff you'll need to send sms.
I chose the prepaid because i don't want to be caught up with monthly bills considering I'm just a student ^^

anonymous is right, you should probably check out suncellular's wireless broadband connection if you want unlimited service but first check if your area has a good signal reception of sun cellular. Based on what I read it seems that suncell's broadband is quite fast and stable so better check it out. ^^
