Social Networking Sites a Factor for Job Hunters
Nowadays most people start their day by checking their emails, news, facebook, twitter and other social networking sites. Today almost everybody owns a DSL connection. I remember way back in the 90's I used to connect to the internet using dial-up mannn it was slow, but now we have connections ranging from 1Mbps to 4 Mbps or even faster (for people using fiber optics). Technology is evolving faster than I thought and it's taking over our lives, I can't imagine how my life would be without the internet and technology itself. I have read articles stating that some companies in the United States use social networking sites to check on their applicants. To explain further let me give you an example; If you apply in a certain company, they would use your facebook or myspace profile to gather information about who you are, where you're from, if your an alcoholic or a religious person and etc.. any information that they could get in your profile. They say it's now becoming a huge factor if your going to get the job or not. I'm saying that we should be prepared, because someday our very own country might use this same tactic on us. So we better keep our profiles clean hehe. I know it's crazy but we'll never know, maybe some companies are already applying this unique way of gathering information, so we should be careful. Don't add your boss haha just kidding.
